Poem

Here is the poem I wrote the day before my birthday. I was doing it for the number of syllables in a line.

Ages

Old years
young years
every year in between
children
play away
the days of their youth,
Gray heads
light heads
every shade in between
pre-teens
caught between
fantasies and facts.
Wise eyes
wide eyes
try to look in between
years that
seperate
flying from a crash,
Soft words
loud words
every noise in between
moods change
and you find
that this year's the next.

Isn't it fun to play with poetry forms? You should look up poetry online and find a site that describes different types of poetry, and then play with writing a couple. Form adds a whole new dimension to writing poetry. See if you can write a sonnet!! :)

Thanks! Dad told me to look up poetry forms too, and I just did today. But I think I want to get a book out on it so I can read about it properly. A while ago I wrote a diamond poem - the first I'd ever written. It wasnt very good but I do want to experiment more and try new types. Right now I'm working on a free verse with a pattern. :/ A sonnet would be hard!
